Where's Al Gore?

I think that's him hiding behind the snow covered ac units! Yeah, that's right - snow covered. Yesterday was the first day of Spring and how was it greeted here in Texas? With an unprecedented Snow Storm! Normally, those ac units are already running by this time of the year in Texas, but this year they are covered in snow.

The greatest one-day March snowfall total for the Dallas area was 6” from March 13, 1924. Here are today's stats:

Plano 8”

Allen 5.7”
Frisco 5.5”
Terrell 5.4”
Little Elm 5”
Lake Kiowa (SE of Gainesville, Cooke Co) 5”
Dallas-White Rock Lake 4.3”
Celeste (Hunt Co) 4”
Princeton (Collin Co.) 3.5”
Allen 3”
Bonham 3”
Paris 3”
Sherman 3”
Southlake 2.50”
DFW airport: 1.2”

If you look carefully at the below photo, you'll notice the blossoms in full bloom on this pear tree:

No Force Strong Enough

"There's no foreign force in the whole world strong enough to subdue America unless the corruption and the timidity of her own people first force her to her ruin."

On Columbus Day

With all of the political correctness gone totally insane as it relates to Christopher Columbus, I thought we should be reminded of his great accomplishment. One could make the claim that there has been no man whose actions did more to change the face of the world in its entire history (save perhaps the unknown inventors of agriculture or the wheel).

"The voyage of Christopher Columbus and his diminutive fleet toward the unknown west was not only a prelude to a new historical era. For the brave navigator it was the culmination of years of bold speculation, careful preparation, and struggle against opponents who had belittled his great plan and thwarted its execution.

"Expounding the strange doctrine that beyond the ocean stood solid, habitable earth, Columbus had first to make his views plausible to his doubting patrons and then to overcome the seemingly endless array of obstacles with which men of little minds barred the way to the fitting out of a fleet. Even when the three small ships were well away on their epoch-making course the crews mutinied and demanded that he turn back. Columbus, however, held to his course and on the morning of October 12, 1492, the welcome land was sighted.

"The courage and the faith and the vision of the Genoese navigator glorify and enrich the drama of the early movement of European people to America. Columbus and his fellow voyagers were the harbingers of later mighty movements of people from Spain, from Columbus's native Italy and from every country in Europe. And out of the fusion of all these national strains was created the America to which the Old World contributed so magnificently."

And the Real Winner Is.....

George Bush in defense of Liberty takes on the Extremists of the Muslim world.
- 50 Million Afghan and Iraqi civilians are liberated from Oppression

Ronald Reagan faces down the Soviet Union.
- The Berlin Wall comes down and 100's of millions of civilians are liberated from Tyranny.

Barrack Obama talks of hope, government expansion, wealth redistribution, and American subservience to the UN, then (fortunately) accomplishes absolutely nothing.
- Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Crash of 2006

Ignore all of the finger pointing on both sides of the aisle. It all comes down to one word: greed. Greed on the part of homeowners, home buyers, mortgage loan companies, banks, and investors - whose reckless abandon for MORE - more house, more profit, more NOW - drove the market into an unsupportable stratosphere. I know you are thinking "Crash of 2006? Isn't it 2007?" Well, actually, this all started in the Fall of 2006 when the real estate bubble burst. It has taken this long for it to work its havoc through the rest of the economy. And, it will continue for quite some time.

Happy Birthday, America!

Happy Birthday, America! After 238 years of Independence what our founding fathers created is still just as miraculous as it was on July 4, 1776. May God continue to bless our great nation with Power, Peace, and Prosperity so that its citizens may forge a common bound and live in a land marked by liberty and equality for all.

Memorial To Those Who Died So We Might Be Free

This Memorial Day Weekend as we barbeque with family and friends, enjoying our many blessings, it would be fitting to remember and honor those who served and perished so that we may live in freedom. From the heights of Breed’s Hill to the fields of Gettysburg, and from the shores of Normandy to the mountain passes of Afghanistan, the American soldier has made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live in a nation in which all citizens are granted liberty, equality, and justice.

Angelina Jolie Says Troop Surge Helping Iraqis

In her article just released in the Washington Post, Angelina Jolie states:

"My visit (to Iraq) left me even more deeply convinced that we not only have a moral obligation to help displaced Iraqi families, but also a serious, long-term,national security interest in ending this crisis.

"Today's humanitarian crisis in Iraq -- and the potential consequencesfor our national security -- are great. Can the United States afford togamble that 4 million or more poor and displaced people, in the heartof Middle East, won't explode in violent desperation, sending thewhole region into further disorder?

"What we cannot afford, in my view, is to squander the progress that has been made. In fact, we should step up our financial and material assistance". - Angelina Jolie
